BTX – the Anti Wrinkle Injections

The BTX* Allergan Units product used in our practice is derived from Clostridium Botulinum, purified from culture via dialysis and acid precipitation.

Clostridium Botulinum

Clostridium Botulinum can be easily found in our close surroundings. They are widely distributed including soil and dust. Some food products such as honey can contain amounts of the bacteria.
Prescription term for BTX is Botulinum toxin type A. It is a high molecular weight protein complex containing active agents preventing the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from axon endings at the neuromuscular junction and thus stops the normal function of the muscle for a period of time in only at the point of injection.

Injecting BTX is typically a safe, relatively painless treatment. It is the
quickest and simplest treatment available to correct the appearance of deep frowning and forehead lines, crows feet around the eyes.

Other areas that might be your concern and can be treated with BTX:

  • Dropping Eyebrows
  • “Bunny Lines” – from eye to nose
  • Nose Flaring
  • Nasal Tip Drop
  • “Gummy” Smile
  • Dropping Lip Corners – sad face
  • Chin Dimples and Mental Crease
  • Teeth Clenching
  • Jawline – “Nefertiti Lift”
  • Neck – Platysmal Bands
  • Neck – Horizontal Lines
  • Decolletage
  • Hyperhidrosis – Excessive Sweating
  • Chronic Migrane

The Procedure

The most disturbing aspect may be the number of injections required. A small dosage is inserted per injection, making multiple injections necessary.

Before the treatment your skin will be numbed with a cream and you will literally feel nothing but relief in 2 weeks.

Face to face consultation is required before the treatment will be prescribed.
